diploma level unit of competency
This diploma-level unit of competency is designed to familiarise participants with operating within an ISO 55001 compliant asset managed environment. It explores how their leadership in decision making—and planning and implementing effective and efficient work activities—impact on their organisation’s ability to deliver products and/or services to customers.
Course Objectives are to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to:
- Apply the principles of sound Asset Management and ISO 55000.
- Identify, prioritise and carry out team work activities within the context of business objectives, ISO 55001 compliance, levels of service, cost optimisation and organisational risk.
- Contribute to formulation of asset management planning.
- Address managing the performance of a team in an asset managed environment by resourcing to meet levels of service requirements, development and maintenance of awareness and competency, and implementation of a continuous improvement culture.
- Ensure provision of data and knowledge to the required standard for reliable decision making and performance management.
- Provide input to renewal & replacement programming & prioritisation.
- Support the organisation’s business and service or production continuity needs.
Non-Accredited Training
ISO 55001 Asset Management Awareness
1/2 day workshops
The five individualised workshops are structured to enable vertical and horizontal alignment of understanding throughout the organisation, consistent with the level and context of the person’s role and responsibilities:
- Governance and leadership (‘Top Management’)
- Asset Management Steering Committee
- Asset Management practitioners and managers
- Support and other activity groups/teams
- Operations and maintenance (field and shopfloor)
Course Objectives are to provide the organisation with enhanced organisational performance, via the participant’s awareness of “the asset management policy, their contribution to the effectiveness of the asset management system, including the benefits of improved asset management performance, their work activities, the associated risks and opportunities and how they relate to each other, the implications of not conforming to the asset management system requirements.” 1
Designed to fulfill the requirement of ISO 55001 for ensuring that “persons doing work under the organization’s control, who can have an impact on the achievement of the asset management objectives, shall be aware of…” 1 key aspects of the organisation’s Asset Management (AM).

Asset Management Familiarisation Workshops
1 day intensive Workshop
These workshops are designed to not only fulfill the requirement of ISO 55001 for ensuring that “persons doing work under the organization’s control, who can have an impact on the achievement of the asset management objectives, shall be aware of…”1 key aspects of the organisation’s Asset Management (AM), but help them work through the change management imperatives driven by introduction of a new or updated Asset Management System or framework.
Objectives are to:
- Enable demonstrated compliance with ISO55001 cl7.3
- Elicit behavioral change as a result of participants’ enhanced awareness of both the Standard and changes to the organisation’s Asset Management approach.
- Initiate the continuous improvement focus embedded in and change management required for ISO55001
- Lay the groundwork for implementation of vertical and horizontal alignment (‘coordinated activity’) as a basic principal of doing business.
Learning outcomes and objectives are to the benefit of both organisation and personal undertaking the training.

Asset Management Executive Awareness Workshops

Pre-reading required
Designed to familiarise those in Executive and Governance roles with what constitutes a sound asset managed environment and evaluate the implications for their organisation and themselves as ‘Top Management’.
The workshop addresses sound asset management implementation through consideration of a series of case studies focused on asset management fundamentals and benefits (as documented in ISO 55000:2014) and can be adapted to suit individual implementation frameworks or industries.
Each case study demonstrates how the fundamentals and benefits are achieved through applying good Asset Management and where gaps have lead to significatn opportuniites for improvement.
Organisations can request that their own case studies be included. All case studies will be reviewed to determine their suitability and benefits.
